Adrian J. Carter
Adrian started pursing a career in Law Enforcement and during his classroom training component, was immediately drawn to issues surrounding criminal law. He decided to further his education and successfully completed his Paralegal Studies diploma on the Dean's list. Adrian's thirst for law and justice eventually saw him study at the prestigious Royal Roads University while living in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
After working at Aitken Robertson Criminal Lawyers, Ontario, Adrian decided to relocate to Australia at the end of 2014. At Bond University, Queensland, he was awarded a Juris Doctor in Australian Law and attained a specialisation in Canadian Law and Practice. Adrian joined the team at Legend Legal Group, Southport and gained valuable experience in criminal and cyber Law.
Eventually, Adrian J. Carter was employed by the Queensland Government as a Prosecutor with the QPS. He advocated for the prosecution at the Townsville Magistrates Court on a daily basis for criminal matters, including some high profile appearances. Adrian was awarded the Assistant Commissioner's Award for his commitment to community safety and the administration of justice.
While he thoroughly enjoyed working with the state government, upon the end of Adrian's term, an exciting opportunity arose to work for the New Zealand government. Adrian jumped at the chance and was able to quickly make his mark as a federal public servant. Being on the frontline in the Border Operations unit during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Adrian quickly managed to gain mastery of both the legal and operational policy worlds, becoming an invaluable asset to the public sector over the past few years.
In 2023, Adrian was awarded for his service in support of the national COVID-19 response by Prime Minister Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern.
Adrian is a strong advocate for criminal justice. He is conducting research into various aspects of criminality and the advent of technology, including the use of artificial intelligence in the law; which he proposes to inform a review piece for consideration by the judicial sectorin Australia and New Zealand.
In his spare time, Adrian pursues his passion for photo and videography. His comprehensive travels across Asia and Oceania attracted much attention, and his blog was featured by Tourism Fiji in September 2017.
In addition to being a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, Adrian has been licenced to provide legal services in Ontario, Canada* and was admitted to the legal profession as a lawyer in Queensland, Australia. He boasts a CV rich with experience across a wide range of disciplines.
